Where is TAM 269..can you help please?

Post by Lynmin »

Hello,
As a surprise for my elderly and increasingly frail Dad I am trying to find out what happened to our much loved family car from the early sixties. It was a grey Morris Traveller as in picture. We lived in Southampton.

Any advice or help in locating it would be much appreciated. It doesn't appear to be on the insurance list I found online and I am wondering if it was sadly scrapped :/
Also, I learned to drive in a black Morris Minor owned by my late husband in 1976, it would have been registered to a Lyndhurst address in 1975 and I recall its number plate was something like DRL 334, I would love to know what happened to that Moggy too.

Thankyou..[frame]Image[/frame]

Hi,
Sorry to say but neither appear on the DVLA's database at present............
Are you sure about the second registration?
Best wishes,
Mike.

1952 Morris Minor MM highlight with sidevalve engine still fitted, wants work, so joins the queue for now......

Is it possible both reg no's have been sold and not in circulation? That was the circumstance with my 58 saloon.

Hello, thanks so much for your replies, sorry for my late response.

It doesn't look too hopeful does it? :\

Do you think it was scrapped? If it has a personal plate would that show anywhere?

Thanks again for taking the time to respond.

Mike: No, I'm not sure about the black Moggy number I just know that Richard bought it in 1975 and I was pretty sure it was DRL and the numbers 334 in some order. It didnt have a split screen, it did have burgundy colour leather upholstery. I know he bought it for £100 as his first car and then he taught me to drive in it. We used to go to Beaulieu Aerodrome and practice, Happy memories .

I'm afraid I owned it for a few years and sold it while it was SFO 892, the original transferable reg LPR 806 was sold long before I got her in the early 90's (backed up by the original logbook and old MOT certificates). LPR 806 appears not to be on a vehicle, at least, not as far as the DVLA are concerned when I last checked, so while it's probably in a barn, or scrapped unfortunately, it would come as no surprise to me if it was still around as mine was!

Anyone remember DJC 840, S11 4dr?

Last seen 1999 in the N'th Wales area.
Further investigations uncovered it was an inside job!!
