So after getting the indictors all working correctly, previous earthing fault rectified, they still work however the indicator stalk light stays on permanently even though indicators work correctly? Checked visible wiring on flasher and nothing else changed so any advice appreciated?

Try a new flasher unit, it is terminal P with the light green wire that feeds the stalk lamp.
