this may sound stupid! but are these simply flat bars rounded to shape and chromed? I'm asking as I'm missing a front bumper!

Yes slightly rounded flat bars that are then chromed. I had mine remade using highly polished stainless and stainless bumper bolts and its a great job and cost a lot less than rechroming the originals.
