I have a USHM3 918cc side valve engine. It doesn't run and needs a rebuild.
It has damaged cylinders and already has +60 pistons.
I don't have the option of using a modern engine as if i do I will have the Series MM lynch mob out to get me

.
So i either need advice on getting this rebuilt or does anyone have a replacement ?
Can you still get Ex military engines to drop in?[frame]

It's either a rebore and sleeve, or - find alternative pistons and just bore it out to suit. I would remove the pistons and measure the gudgeon pin to crown height - and compare with say Minor 948 pistons etc to see if by any chance they are similar.

Ex military engines do not just drop in, they provide a block and moving parts to which you have to supply the rest of the engine. See

East Sussex Minors have +20, 30, 60 and standard listed, thought they quite pricey now. When I got mine from them in 2009 them were Australian made and seemed very good quality. Club spares are also likely to have some available.
Heres my engine rebuild from a few years age

'Not common' - the way forward is going to be bore + sleeve, and then new pistons from ESM. Is the crank ok for a re-grind - or is it at bottom limits too?

Thanks. so the plan is to lift the engine and see what condition the bottom end is in.
I am not going to be able to do this for a few weeks now... so watch this space.
