Seized sidevalve

Hi all been offered a sidevalve engine which i ve been told it doesnt turn due to being standing a long time! He s asking €280 nit sure if i should take the risk! Is a seized engine repairable?

I would not give £28 for a seized engine, the block may be cracked, the head stuck to the block, pistons seized etc. I would strip it down and offer him for anything that may be useable, cam, crank, oil pump.

I agree with Mike. My engine was seized when I bought the car. The car had been in "dry storage" for 20 years, one bore had had water in it and was very rusted in, another bore had a floating gudgeon pin which had badly scored the bore. All bores were on +.060" so I had them sleeved. Sleeves and pistons were available from the Club but the installation labour cost was not cheap!!!
So, you really need to know what you are getting into.
