NEW TYRES

Hi just wondered if anyone knows if i should use inner tubes on my new tyres. Have just had my wheels powder coated and had some new tyres. When the old ones were removed they had tubes in and i'm not sure if i should have them put back in ?

Hi,
I run Toyo's tubeless and have done since I bought my car seven years ago.
Modern tyres are designed to run this way and I found, when I initially ran them with tubes in, the wheels vibrated, as soon as the tubes were removed they ran fine.
The obvious point from this is that standard Morris Minor wheels are fine to run tubeless.
You can always sell the tubes on to someone who wants to run original style crossplys (which are still available from specialists).

I run tubeless as well; the fitters had a really hard time getting the tyres to seat properly on the powdercoated wheels so check that they're even all the way round. If the wheels leak it's usually at one of the rivets and can be repaired with a little JB weld on the inside.

Oooh, powder coating wheels - fab idea. How much did that cost? I know a place in Birmingham that are meant to be pretty good...

Many thanks for the advice.I also have purchased toyos so will go with the tubeless.Had the wheels done at redditch sandblasting for 30 notes a wheel cant wait to get them back. Thanks again.

I had mine blasted too but with some other media, as sand gets in everywhere and can cause more rust, so I'd borrow an air line from someone and give them a good blow out in all the nooks and crannies before you treat and / or paint them.
I had mine galvanized, then powdercoated. They looked really good..............
However the powdercoated paint still chips off round the edges the same as normal paint does (I thought it was harder wearing), so I shall respray them myself when I next decide they are at the point that I want to do them again.
Still glad I galvanized them though!
