Just landed today, 1953 Pick up from Oz

Post by billy boy »

So chuffed this is as good as I was told. Just so original that is the best thing about this van. matching numbers and everything seems to be there!!

Gonna go through it tomorrow and then see if we can get it going!!

Where would I get a dating letter for this, Gaydon?? Its plaque states it is Nuffield cars of Australia but would this have been CKD or built here and shipped??

thanks

Probably would have been built in Aus, as they had a production plant there as they did in N Z

You can apply for a Heritage certificate:

Or supply the chassis number, as there are people on here who will know the build date from that.

Not sure if the records would be held at Gaydon if it was built in Australia rather than supplied as CKD? The club technical tips man (Rob Thomasson) should be able to supply a dating certificate.

Should have 2 sets of numbers separated by a "/";

1st one is the UK chassis number.
Further investigations uncovered it was an inside job!!
