Problem engine cold will start first time and run okay. Trip out to fill with fuel say 1.5 miles and engine would not start Pushed off pumps and twenty minutes later engine fired up and driven home .Stop engine and again would not restart.
New engine running in with all brand new points,NGK plugs and points. Engine cooled down and will start and run okay.
Cannot go for run out until problem cured, any ideas welcome.
Car is Morris Minor 1968 pickup with new Goldseal LCV 10938 CC engine with Standard SU Carb, alternator fitted.

Could be flooding I suppose - check if fuel overflows the carb bridge when sitting with the Ignition ON - main clue is - is the fuel pump ticking away? Is it possible the 'choke' is stuck on? Otherwise - check points gap/connections and sop on, although can't see connection to engine 'hot' with these..... I would carry a squirt bottle with a little petrol - run the engine for a while - switch off - wait a few minutes - try a restart. If no go - squirt some petrol down the carb throat and crank it - if it starts - the problem is fuel starvation. If not - the problem is with the Ignition.

When you go it the garage do a weeks worth of shopping, thumb through a few car mags all whilst leaving your car at the pump . By the time you go it will be nice cool .
Seems to be a lot of people with this problem .

------yea don't worry about the poor bloke waiting behind! When you do reach a pump it's still not over, you have to join the shopping queue. I pulled a guy about this once, he told me it was a convenience store. Not if you just want petrol it isn't!!

whilst it "Probably isn't" its worth swaping a known good coil just to try it,it never is the coil but sometimes with a modern replacement,it is.Looks like you have had a lot of work done on the engine ,it may have had one of the new dodgy coils fitted, the originals last for ever, the new ones have been know to fail. The symptoms point to a component overheating, where are you someone nearby will have a spare to try.

Petrol pump fitted is a modprod 129 electric unit which should only be fitted to minis and next to fuel tanks since having short suction and long discharge arrangement. Problem found that fuel pump hammering out aloud due to loss of fuel suction.
Bought a Facet 574A electronic fuel pump and fitted with a regulator set at 2 psi. Problem solved and moggy wants to fly now wether hot or cold.
Thanks for your help and happy motoring.
PS Petrol pump clicking all the time ignition switched and engine running, is this normal.
