track rod end doesn't want to click in taper
trying to fit a new track rod end but as much tightening as I do, the track rod end still doesn't want to "click" in place, which means when I remove the nut the track rod end can be pulled out by hand! which I think is not right! what am I doing wrong? :S

Clean the taper surfaces really well - degrease them. Then press the TRE into the steering arm and find a way to clamp it down as best you can. Use a normal nut (ie NOT a self locking nut) to pull the taper down into the steering arm - then remove that nut and fit the self locking nut.

Or if you do not have a nut to fit then use a stack of washers so that it tightens up without using all the thread on the nylock nut. When tight remove the extra washers
