That 038 code may not be recognised in SL Dale...... 45 Ah lead acid battery is fine. 'Gel' battery is surely more expensive - and may not have the solid cranking power of the normal lead/acid battery.

The gel is ideal where there is a risk of spillage, such as on boats, but on a Minor, the conventional lead acid is perfectly OK, cheaper,; and, as Roy says, can provide more starting power. The gel can operate in any position, but do you want to fit it upside down?
