coil fitted to alternator

how is this done?
i have seen a few photos of the coil
fitted on top of the alternator and
would like any info on what is needed please

Basically the same as with a dynamo, but with a bigger (longer) band. My preferred solution is a bracket that is secured by the two bolts that hold the alternator mounting bracket in place, and the coil and its immediate holder then bolt to that bracket; but either solution works perfectly well. With longer leads, you can mount the coil on the body work wherever happens to be convenient. Some coils must be mounted in a particular orientation, so check any guidance in that area.

Better I feel to keep it away from the heat and vibration of the engine - mine is bolted to the inner wing.
