I'd been intrigued about our Minor's history, and had tried tracing her original owner's decendants via the genealogy sites we subscribe to. This got a little complicated through the generations, and so I gave up. However, I didn't think to do the obvious and type the owner's name with "Morris Minor" into Google until a couple of evenings ago. Up popped extracts of a local historian's autobiography of growing up in the 1950s through the '60s. He described his grandmother by her full name, and how she became a well-known driving instructor around Bedford in her 60s and continued, in her split-screen Minor, well into her 80s. She even carried out her own servicing and repairs. The name, year of birth etc fitted perfectly.
I managed to trace the author's email address, and lo and behold received this in reply:[frame]
This is our car's original owner,at the age of 85, and still teaching people to drive in 1973 when the car was a "mere" 18 years old!
It's really good to learn how our car was part of Bedford's social history all those years ago.
