This announcement makes me feel as sad as the day I heard that Morris Minors were ending production................

Whilst they may have stopped production of the Ambassador there are too many in use for them to disappear overnight.
A whole post production service and repair industry will continue to support the cars for many years to come. A bit like the Minor in that part of the world and on a smaller scale over here in the UK.
They did try to import them into this country (1993) but that was short lived.
Only ever seen one Hindustan Ambassador in this country (at Salisbury railway station) and it did not seem to be too bad a car but very dated; and not much rust which surprised me.
Latterly various engines (including the ISUZU inline 1800cc 4 cyl) were fitted to try and comply with emission controls but as ever the younger generation want more modern cars and sales had plummeted as stated in the article's.

Shame the Ambassador didn't take off over here. Really nice looking motor.
