May is a good month to visit the Perigord region of south west france. The roads are very quite. the temperature is in the low twenties.
We did not see any other classic cars on the road, where do the French hide their cars. more will be revealed later.

We left our desirable des-res and headed to Brantome on the Sunday morning.

Here we gate crashed the Perigueux Retro Car Club`s annual display in front of the impressive abbey at Brantome.

All types of French cars were on display. But they do like sportscars which were built over in the UK.

You just cannot include a pair of these iconic French cars. I would love one of these, but not at the price they fetch when in excellent order.

Now where could I possibly find a barn stored car ripe for improving.???

Brantome is a lovely old place. An ideal setting for a very large antiques fair.

Free to enter and look around on a Sunday morning.

Full of interesting stuff but the prices can be a bit steep.

A very large Brocante was being held the same day in the meadows.

Fantastic old French barn found items but at high French prices.

Breakfast beckoned, but first we had to cook it.

We were walking past this property when we spotted a tractor in the front courtyard.

We had never met this chap before but that did not stop him or us getting along great guns.

This old fella kept his Mc Cormick Cub tractor outside his front door.

Within minutes he had it running for us, then the grand tour started of his property and old machinery.

Next day we went to see an old french freind of mine who has all manner of old cars, motorcycles and tractors.

Because they have so much storage space nothing is sold or thrown away.

I have asked him for years to sell me this little Simca 1939, but he just is not interested.
