i jave bought another van with a 1275A+ engine.
but there is no heater valve fitted.
can anyone tell me if the normal heater valve from a 1098 will fit with no problems

Depends on which head is fitted.

Usually the A+ engines have no bypass hose and use a different thermostat housing with a lower take off as opposed to the Moggy heater valve.

To convert it, you need to drill and tap the head to insert a bypass hose tube and drill out the blank at the rear of the head to fit the heater tap.

OR you can just do what I did and have the heater in circulaton all the time by just using an Ital type heater take off (like the Moggy heater valve but it's just a pipe connection to the head) and the standard Moggy bottom radiator hose.

If you do decide to fit a tap the earlier one is easier to fit as its not affected by the angle of the mounting position like the later type valve.

Why not? You turn it ON in the autumn and off in the spring!

Not without a modification as its at an angle and the later valve will hit the battery tray unless you are going to cut a piece out and even then it can touch the battery if you have a larger battery fitted.

further to enquries i have been to esm minors.

they do an angled spigot to fit on the back of the 1275 engine, so you can use the original late type heater valve.
what good guys they are at esm.

Thats useful to know I seem to remember somethign being mentioned before but not details were given, how much is it.
