no spark
Help needed urgently.I cannot get any spark at the points at all. I've replaced the points, plugs, condenser and coil and still it all seems dead. What else is there to check? I am running out of ideas and patience.
Re: no spark
Check over the wires to the points/condenser, and make sure you have not got the wires that are insulated from each other, touching.

Re: no spark
I have found that sometimes new points have an oil film on them and don't make contact. The thing to do, after setting the gap, is to turn the engine until the points are closed, then pry them open and put a clean piece of white paper in between, let the points close and pull the paper out. You will see on the paper if there was any oil on the points. If necessary you may have to repeat this. I do this as a matter of routine when installing new points.

Re: no spark
Or even tightening the small nut to tight can split the plastic washers, causing the points to earth and not spark.

Beero-the car last ran about 18 months ago and then it just stood in a garage due to pressure of other things, then it just wouldn't fire up.That's when I changed all the bits
