Does anyone know, if there is a fitting suitcase set for the luggage compartment exists or was available once?
I would like to use the space as god as possible, but it should fit the vintage look of the car. I have a black Serie II with dark red carpets.
A Picture about a solution of an other stilish filled cargo bay could be helpful aswell to bring the right idea.

Im sure I once saw in an old magazine that fitted luggage was available, made to measure for any car. Heres an old add showing an open boot and luggage[frame][/frame]

Some folk fit a luggage/boot rack if they need more room, personally Im not that keen on a boot rack I had one for a while but never used it.[frame][/frame]

Personally Ive got a selection of old luggage that Ive used as display or when going on trips, ranging from items from charity shops, auction, antique shops and even a skip were I found the old gladstone bag. Heres a pic, hope you cant see too much dust!! [frame][/frame]

I have recently seen a photo of a Minor fitted with a 'after market' fiberglass boot lid which was re-profiled to give more space in the boot. If I can find more info I will post on here.
Perhaps someone on here knows more about this.

There is a photo in ' Morris Minor - The first 50 Years' by Ray Newell (P73) which shows this. Unfotunately my scanner is on strike so can't post it just now. They were apparently made by Alexander Engineering, Haddenham. It was supplied in primer for the owner to have sprayed in their chosen colour. Very rare period extra but wasn't very popular as it gave the car some odd lines at the back Will post a photo as soon as I can

I have this Boot Lid on my car. Gives you some more space in the boot.
Would like a copy of this Alexander brochure, so people can see that I have not made this myself.

Makes the rear end boot area similar to a Hillman Minx MK V

If you have lots of luggage you can always let the back seat down and you will have plenty of room for lots of cases.
Miss Yoxall the previous owner of my two door Minor car used to transport beehives in the back with the seat down so if she could do that just think of all those suitcase that could be moved.

Many thanks for all the replys and hints. Thats was very interresting, even not what i was excactly searching for. However, i will try to build up the suitcase set by myselfe if i will find the time.

Followed the link and in the English translation there is a reference to the Trabant having a cardboard chassis.

The reality was that it was made of Duroplast similar to Bakelite made from cotton waste and phenol resins; the cardboard chassis was a popular misconception/myth. Source Wikipedia.

Maybee someone else has this advert for this special boot lid, so I will be very happy for a copy so I can tell people that I did not make this myself - as many think I have.

This lid is perfect! Are there still some of those around?

I think that you would be very lucky to find one now but you never know what may be lurking in the back of some peoples sheds
You could always purchase a fiberglass Minor boot lid and re-profile it to be similar to the Alexander boot lid. Working with fiberglass is not too difficult.
