See attached poster for details.[frame]Image[/frame]
Had a close up and cockpit visit to this Vulcan a few weeks ago and was allowed to sit in the pilots seat :D :D
I did ask where the start button was but was kept well away from it :(

It's a really good day out, and great to see the high speed taxi! Thoroughly recommended (we were there with our highway yellow car last year). You can see the Vulcan on any Saturday with a cockpit tour for a donation.

Whilst I am unable to go to the Wings and Wheels event at Wellsbourne Airfield today it was made up by the fact that yesterday two Spitfires from the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight (BBMF) in 'D Day' markings did a booked fly past and circled over close to where I was standing. What a sight and the roar of those two Merlin engines was something else :D :D :D :D :D x 1k.
I believe that one of the two actually fought over the 'D Day beaches.
The Dakota from the BBMF is booked to appear at Wings and Wheels at 15:25.

Here is a close up of a Merlin Engine rebuilt and on a exhibition stand, it runs and to be close by and hear it run is quite a sight.
Also here is a photo of a scale model of a Vulcan, it has two model gas turbine engines and has a wingspan of 10 ft. Awesome to see flying :D
I took the photos at the Woodvale Rally near Southport in 2004.[frame]Image[/frame][frame]Image[/frame]

I went

It was a griffen engine on the stand... and thats the small "model" Vulcan :o

Good day, certainly worth the entry fee - but it needed something else - possibly an aerial display of some sort rather than just modern light aircraft taking off and landing... or an old military aircraft which could actually take off!

The model weighs 148kg when fully fuelled - any greater than 150kg and its no longer classified as a model! Apparently the FAA had to issue approvals for it to be used in displays involving over 6 months worth of paperwork and test flights. The landing gear on the nosewheel looked a bit iffy this year, only coming down after a rear only landing (he saw it, did a rolling landing to "shock" it down, powered up, did a run round and landed properly)

The last flying vulcan XH558 is visiting Old Warden on the Sunday of the national rally . What do we need to get a fly past the rally?
