Hello all
I have this strange oil filler pipe on my 1950 MM, but with a USHM3 engine. I've not seen anything like this in photos on the Forum or in books etc. It has a T-piece as shown which looks as if it might have a pipe attached to it, but if so where does this go? Is it part of an early recycling system , I wonder. It was on the car when I bought it.
Any suggestions welcome (polite of course)

Never seen one of those. The oil filler cap has plenty of ventilation without the extra pipe and the breather pipe on the tappet chest does a good job at directing fumes into the car.
I have what I assume is a Morris 8 filler pipe which is longer and is easier to pour the oil in without spilling it, I am too lazy to use a funnel. To avoid loosing the filler cap I have drilled a hole in the top and pop riveted a length of basin plug chain, forming a loop with the other end and dropping it over the pipe
