Cleaning away brake fluid

Right, I'm replacing my shoes after a wheel cylinder leak.

My only problem is the whole wheel is covered in brake fluid. I don't want to ruin the new shoes, so what's the best way to clean everything up before fitting them?

Hi, I would use this, http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stor ... yId_255218

I use it to give the drum internals a clean when inspecting inside the drums.

Brake fluid is hydroscopic, so plain water will remove it.

Good scrub with soap and hot water! Use an old scouring pad. A final squirt with 'carb cleaner' to remove any oil/grease - but really shouldn't be necessary.

A kettle full of boiling water normally does the trick perfectly!
