My petrol pump on my Morris 1000 makes a lot of loud ticking noise when the car engine is running, I do understand that its in the pumping mode, what I like to know is this the usual noise of the pump.
Best regards

My pump used to make loud ticking when the engine was running more when the engine was ticking over.I took the pump off and found the pump had been fitted upside down as on part of the pump it says top.So I fitted it the right way up and now it only ticks when I switch on and on the odd occasion when in use.

I have not got any photos but my pump is bolted near the the battery and just had to turn it it round 180 degrees and all pipe work and connections fit.

Did you undo the ring of screws around the base - and then turn it
