CLUB PROJECT CAR

The club has just bought a 49 saloon to restore in time for the 40th anniversary of the club's formation in 2016 when it will probably be "rebuilt" on the club stand at the NEC. The shell is very sound having been restored in the past to a good standard. The bare shell surrounded by boxes of parts had been stored for several years so before it could be moved Andrew Stone and myself had to refit all the front and rear suspension, axle, steering rack etc which took us about 3 hours.
Most parts seem to be with the car and just need overhauling or refurbishing so we will be looking for volunteers who can help with various aspects of the job. Also someone who has access to a sandblasting cabinet who could clean up all the smaller metal parts for us.
The main parts that we need to source are two good lowlight front wings unless someone can sort out the existing wings and two good condition beige front seats plus matching door and rear quarter panels.
Please contact either myself or Andrew if you are able to help in any way at all.
Thanks
Bryan Gostling
PS We have a pair of modified rear wings to sell as the car came with two pairs of wings.

As far as I'm aware the club hasn't yet said what is going to happen after the restoration. Any updates will no doubt be published in Minor Matters so keep an eye out there

It was mentioned in 'Ray's Ramble' in the May/June issue. I guess the purchase would have been a committee decision but I don't know for certain. Best to contact the club office directly if you want to know that sort of info.

Rebuild projects are occasionally donated to the club which then decides if they are a viable proposition. When rebuild they are often used for charity fundraising before being sold and the profits donated to the charity.

No cloak and dagger - I just want to know who you are so I can see if you are a club member.

Why are you not prepared to identify yourself? What have you to hide? I am not prepared to discuss club matters with someone who may not be a club member.
