Is it easier to fit a complete axle than to mess about stripping the diff out?
Are you sure that it is not a noisy wheel bearing?

Hi Mike, I have stripped and rebuilt my 4.55 axle and found the pinion bent at the flange end 0.007" also the carrier bearings wern't 100% one was quite noisy when dry. Straigtened up the pinion shaft and replaced the carrier bearings and will change axles back later in the year. I am running the car with the spare 5.375 axle at the minute it is quiet but you are limited to 50mph. It has good acceleration though. I have been in touch with Bryan as he has an axle may be ok.
Cheers Iain.

Hi WPR678B, thanks for the offer, I will keep it in mind. I will send you a PM with my email address. I visit my son in Bristol now and again, let me know where you are in Dorset. Thanks Iain.
