First Post: I'm after a Traveller. I've owned many a Series Land Rover, now I yearn for a Traveller. [Like wot my Dad had]. I did a vehicle check via DVLA. His I see is still on the road:

The enquiry is complete. The vehicle details for CAR 734B are:
Date of Liability 01 08 2014
Date of First Registration 02 06 1964
Year of Manufacture 1964
Cylinder Capacity (cc) 1098cc
CO₂ Emissions Not Available
Fuel Type PETROL
Export Marker N
Vehicle Status Licence Not Due
Vehicle Colour GREEN
Vehicle Type Approval Not Available

When i last saw it it had a 1300 spridget in it, Riley 1.5 drums, and my Dad's home-made telescopic shox conversion. And lots of other subtle perforamnce mods. But that was around 1978, when such things as kits were not de riguer.

I've lsot of pics of it from new from the family album. We had it for nearly 30 years, so if you have it or know where it is, let me know. And if your're selling...

Welcome to the forum! Hopefully someone will come back with news of your old Traveller. Was it always 'green' ?

Yes always green (was it Almond Green??) and the wood was mint even then. My Dad would religiously strip and re-polyurethane it yearly, pour engine oil down everything, so it never did rot.

I believe if you contact the DVLA and say you have a lot of history of the vehicle you want to pass on they will give you the contact details of the current keeper - or give the current keeper your details (or something like that anyway)

Thankyou Can you really? I like the sound of that. Should have thought the DVLA would find the Data Protection act or some such to throw at me, I shall have look-see.

CAR 710B! eh, close...

Well, that's how the 'private parking' scammers get your details to send you a 'fine'. So you would think a 'nice' reason would also get you the details.

I contacted the DVLA in January to find out about my old Black 1958 2dr (518UXH) that has been sorn for the last 5yrs, I even enclosed a letter for them to forward to the existing keeper. Instead, they posted it all back to me stating it would be insensitive to forward my letter incase the current keeper was deceased. However, I could fill out some forms and pay a fee for a full report of the ownership details ! If it's sorn each year, someone is looking after it, I've contacted the local clubs and MMOC but the car is not listed.

Good luck with your search and let us know how you get on with the DVLA

CAR 710B - fond memories of St Remy de Provence and a Trfalgar Blue, Oselli powered 1098 that Chris wouldn't shut up about :-) best MOT ever IMHO :-)

I reckon Diekirch is my favourite becaue of the weather we had to overcome. St Remy remains tainted for us by the late-night rowdiness of certain MOTers (you know who you are!) who nearly got us all thrown off the site. Having said that, we enjoyed all the ones we ran.

CAR 710B is about to undergo a major restoration, work is delayed pending funds from the sale of the BSA Chris has yet to get around to fixing & selling. The Oselli unit will be going up for sale shortly.

Once put back together CAR 710B will go on to French plates - sad!

I reckon my father could have claimed to be the first to put bigger drums on a Moggy, circa 1969-70, and likely the first with tele shox too. [says he boastfully, "MY DAD'S BETTER THAN YOUR DAD" yadda yadda] I remember he welded a plate and beefed up the inner wing to fabricate a mount. I've not seen a commercial kit but I've heard tell. Can't remember how he did the rear. Put on antirol bars too. I wonder if those conversions and the original ash have survived.

CAR 734B is still out there. DVLA reckon Tax expires in Aug 2015. There can't be too many people that can say their humble car of some 50 years still survives.
