hi.

i have a bit of a strange question, i think i have a dual personality moggie. either that or whoever had him before me have made it look that way!!!

i was wondering when a part i need to buy is year specific what years do i buy for. i know some of the things are obvious, but are there any hidden things i need to look for.

he is a 1964 2 door,

Depends what you need to buy! Suspension is all the same - front brakes could be 7" or 8" - measure them! And the engine could be 948 or 1098 - although the engine number will make that obvious.

It's a 1098 I know that from the log book, and I just changed the front brakes to discs.

Typical that my first car has to be confusing, lol

Suppose I will have to wait to see what I need and compare

A 1964 will be a 1098 with 4.22 differential and 8" drums.

If its a dual personality it will have a pull start, gold speedo and the earlier interior.

All mechanical parts will be the same as the later cars

Cool, so not as complicated as I thought. My other half half has a bike that left the factory all mixed up and that's a nightmare

It fits the criteria to be dual personality, banjo steering wheel, claper hands wipers, gold Speedo, pull start and an old style heater. The interior is normal vinyl not fabric though.

Thanks for the help

hmm clap hand wipers went out before '64.

I have a '64 convertable (registered 2/1/64) with the newer wiper assembly and heater...

I wonder if you have a late registered 948??

I agree - clap hands wipers suggest an earlier car - that has been retro-fitted with a later 1098 engine.......Does the chassis number match the V5 ???? What's the tpm number on the speedo ? Have you checked the age of the glass??

First registration was 2nd Jan 64

I looked on the dual personality website and my chassis number fits into the slot that it was built in the 62/63 period. The only reason I looked in I that was because the restoration book I says I should have things I don't. The clock was changed and the wrong one was put in.

Don't really think anything on him was changed. The previous owners put a brake servo in, but fitted it all up wrong. The whole car looks like it was maintained enough to use but not to stop things going wrong

Check the body number code - prefixed by a "Z".

It could well have been built in '63 but not sold/registered until 1964.

I have a dual personality car - Sept 63 clap hands wipers, 1098 engine (original to car) gold speedo pull start. During the changeover Oct 63 Morris seemed to fit whatever parts were to hand so some strange combinations happened.

think mine is a phase 1. but the previous owners have put seperate indicators on. and the chassis number fits in the grouping

but as long as i know which parts fit i am fine :)

Agreed - if in doubt take the old part with you when buying new or examine it closely against the suppliers website picture description before purchase.
