Hi
Can anyone help he out with a simple query - how do I prevent the central spindle rotating as I tighten the nyloc nut? Track rod end is new and don't want to damage anything - only alternative I could think of is use a normal nut with maybe a spring washer?

Clean the track rod end taper and steering arm taper hole with methylated spirits to remove any grease. Push the track rod taper into the tapered hole. If necessary use a lever to hold the track rod end into the taper and tighten the track rod end securing nut and that should do it. Make sure that the track rod end gaiter is not twisted after fitting.

Sometimes the new nylock nuts are very tight a trick is to run the nut on to a good condition bolt with the same thread first to 'Bed in' the nylon within the nut. It is then easier to start it on the track rod end thread.....

Best bet is to clean it as above - then tighten the joint up good and tight with a normal nut - then remove that nut, and fit the nyloc. In theory a nyloc should only be used once....
