Unbalanced passenger rear brake question?

Hi all,

Mog failed the MOT due to the rear passenger brake only hitting 50%, the drivers side rear hits an okay 160%, fronts are okay at 200%.

They are still unbalanced when the hand brake is applied.

I've replaced the passenger rear brake cylinder and adjusted up. All felt good and fine until the retest, where it failed again and had the same readings.

Any thoughts what else it could be before I strip it all apart again?

The pedal feels fine by the way, there were no obvious warning signs while driving that something was wrong. :-?

was the cylinder leaking, if so you need to replace the brake shoes

Hmm.. Not that I'm aware of, more seized than anything. But, I suppose new shoes at the rear both sides wouldn't go a miss.

Go for a named make, Mintex or Ferodo, no-name shoes are pretty poor.

Perhaps you haven't adjusted it correctly....... You need to slacken off the handbrake cable - and then adjust up the shoes on the adjuster. and then tighten the handbrake cable to bring the lever up to where you want it. Obviously check that the cable is moving freely... Could also be contaminated brake shoes as mentioned above.
