My pickup is two shades of colour at the moment, so in preparation for a re-paint, I was wondering about the practice of spraying top coat straight onto the existing finish, the paint is sound and would be rubbed down and prepared as if for primer but instead followed by the finished colour. Any experts got a view on this please?

provided the base is sound and wont react with the new paint a good key with wet dry and you should be fine
