Best restoration book to buy?

I am about to start restoring a Traveller and am wondering what is the best book to buy, I have Ray Newell`s Traveller complete companion that explains the wood work side of things. I have a Mig welder and am very competent with it and I used to be a mechanic so it should be fairly straight forward (famous last words) but it always helps to read up on model specifics etc. Many thanks for your thoughts................Martin

Hi Martin,

there is the Haynes Morris Minor restoration manual that is quite comprehensive. Or if you were a mechanic, just take lots of photos and make notes as you take the car apart and it will be straighforward to put back together afterwards. Bag and box all the parts and any re-usable fixings!

Yes the new traveller book is good. Other than that, the haynes manual as CJ says. Also the Jim Tyler Morris Minor book is helpful, though concerns a saloon rather than a traveller and the Practical Classics restoration guide - a compilation of the magazine articles from the early 90s which covered a traveller rebuild. Both these books may be out of print but should be possible to track them down on the net.
Currently, Classics Monthly magazine are doing a traveller rebuild which you may find worth following. Rather than the usual barn find, this looked a reasonable car when they started so its a slightly different slant on the usual acres of rust and holes, more poor previous repairs and things out of line. Worth a look.
