What/where does this do/go?

Post by MorrisMinor-65-1000 »

Was in the boot, but the car was in a half state of disassembly when I got it.

Same place as this, and I haven’t found out where it goes either. :-?
When I posted a pic of this some time ago it was suggested under the floor somewhere. I’ve still got mine on the shelf so if you get an answer let me know. :D

I will do, thanks! :)

It was in the boot by the fuel tank, but the wooden floor had been removed as had other bits, so not sure where it came from. Can't find any screw holes in the metal work. Not checked the wooden floor yet. Struck me that it could be screwed to the underside of the wooden floor to create a divider between the spare wheel area and 'other area' under the boot floor, but I can't work out where it might go - the slanted end certainly suggests it sits perpendicular against something that is angled.

Anyone care to stick a camera under the boot floor and see what's there?

Michael

Hi it fits to the floor board and stops the spare wheel pushing or rubbing the rear panel behind seat.

It is a support for under the wooden boot floor, it sits (as you are looking into the boot) on the right hand side against the wheel arch in the centre of the wood. I discovered it when I took out the wooden floor to inject the spring hanger cavity.

It's strange though that the left hand side doe not have one. Maybe it got lost?

Left hand side doesn't need one as the spare wheel goes on the right. The bracket does indeed go by the wind, not against the seat.

Ah I see. Is this so the wheel doesn't slide forwards when in situ? In other words, to give the spare wheel retaining bracket something to brace against when the wheel is in situ?

Does anybody have a picture? Am refitting the boot floor in a few weeks so will add it to the list of jobs. Thanks

Michael

There should be two holes in the wooden boot floor near the o/s wheel arch which match the two holes in the bracket

That's great thanks! Think I may have to replace my existing floor as it's been wet and looking a bit rotten so that helps a lot. Ta
