Referring back to the issue of no comments/replies being allowed on the 'cars for sale' topic. I wonder if any official or similar has thought to contact the advertisers to see if they were, in fact, being contacted by pm. It might give some idea if this restriction was bearing fruit, or was actually putting people off of responding in this manner.
Re: No comment.
Difficult to see how contacting sellers to ask if they have received any pm's or not would "give some idea if this restriction is bearing fruit". However since the change to classified style ads there have been no complaints from sellers in relation to receiving unwanted / unwelcome comments from those who have no interest at all in actually buying the vehicle, or from potential purchasers who object to contacting sellers via pm. Hope this puts your mind at rest Les

Thanks Louise, obviously sellers are not going to complain about the lack of abuse but I'm of the view that a post that generates comment, and lets face it, mostly banter, can create interest to a wider public and sometimes a detail will occur that could clinch a deal. However like my mind I'll let the subject rest.

Re: No comment.
The point of being able to provide intelligent 'comment' on vehicles for sale, was mainly to highlight errors in the vehicle description and to jog sellers to provide more information/better pictures/explanations for any discrepancies in the description, and so on - this additional information would have been useful to prospective purchasers - and had the benefit for the seller of putting the advert back on top. I suppose now if someone has a query about a 'sales' vehicle - they can always ask for opinions in the 'other' section..... I suspect the effectiveness of the 'Car Sales' section is now very much reduced. If I was considering buying a vehicle from the forum - I would certainly want to hear the collective wisdom of the forum on the vehicle ! And to be warned of any obvious flaws with the vehicle, which the seller had happened to forget to mention......

Trouble is Roy, it's a fine line between constructive comment and criticism. As we have all found comments on forums are sometimes taken the wrong way.

Two very nice cars for sale right now - tragically due to illness - what a shame we aren't allowed to comment on them!

Re: No comment.
It would be really interesting to know if the cars advertised on this forum are selling. Previous to political correctness the sellers usually said if sold
Re: No comment.
Indeed - I do wonder if the 'sales' from the Forum have fallen away. Can anyone who has tried to sell a car comment on that?
