Hi all,
My name is Vic Fox and I live in Dorset, I have just bought the 1971 Traveller from Sheffield that was posted on the club web pages last month and my problem is tight side windows. Herself is not impressed by having to jemmy the side window to open it, any ideas on how to ease the situation?

Welcome to the forum. They probably haven't been opened for many years. The bottom runners will be 'gummed up'. You may need to strip the whole lot out and renew the runners - but I would try some WD40 gently sprayed on - and work the windows back and forth to see if they come free.

Quarter lights, door windows or side rear windows? Either way a strip and clean should help.

I had a similar issue with my '69 traveller a couple of years back, not long after i bought her. After much effort and lubricant of various makes I decided to look deeper. A previous owner had inserted a strip of hardboard along the top of the runners. The removal was not easy as the runners were well and truly screwed through this. Time and patience were not issued that morning, so new runners were ordered. Put all back together without the hardboard, and hey presto, working sliding windows. Dear all,
Thanks for the welcome and the advice, the WD40 worked a treat. I am now busy removing a horrible electric fan that stuck out of the grille, so poor Jeffery is in bits while I fit a new grille and at the same time I can fix a timing case oil leak, fit a new thermostat, new hoses and put the metal fan back on. My previous classic was a 79 Scimitar and I am enjoying the ease of access to all the oily bits.

Seemed nice enough, though I agree the fan wasn't to my taste either!
