1958 traveller with 1098 engine

Can anyone tell me how you find out what distributor I should buy for my traveller.I want to buy a new distributor with electronic ignition fitted,but I am unsure which to buy.The new ones seem to be 25D and 45 D.My existing distributor has several numbers/letters,such as 40561E,also EN260 1058 and finally DM2 and is fitted with vacuum advance.Which is the right one for my car please?

DM2 is an early dizzy for a Series II, 25D is normal for 1098 engine. 25D or 45D with electronic ignition any will fit, I doubt if you will notice the difference

Just be aware, my most recent project came with an accuspark 45D distributor, when fitted it ran very flat. When I replaced it with a conventional points operated 25D it runs much better, the conclusion I've figure is that the 45D bob weights were too big ie 12 deg, the 25D was around 7 or 8 I think.
Not to waste, the 45D will go in the 1275!
Just something to bear in mind.

The 45D is a much better dizzy - just tell them what mechanical advance you want.... Typically - it will be ~ 12 degrees

DM2 were also fitted to 948 cars up till near the end of production I think, so it could be the car's original distributor. It's just an older type that was superseded by the 25d. 25d looks like the dm2 and you'll be able to use same style cap, leads etc., whereas 45d looks quite different.
