Has anyone experience of how responsive is the breakdown cover/roadside assistance provided by FootmanJames Insurance cover?
I am thinking specifically has anyone had experience, good or not ,of how responsive the service is in Europe?
Any comments appreciated.

Hi,
I don't know about Footman James but I'm with the AA, they've been very useful over the years. Not the cheapest now I'm sure but they are 'the devil I know'..................
Like everything else these days it would probably pay you to shop around before settling on one.
Good luck and best wishes,
Mike.

Breakdown cover in Europe would usually be handled by a subcontractor in that country rather than the services of whichever breakdown company you have joined in the UK.

For that reason the service you receive is at the mercy of whichever breakdown operative is sent to assist you. I have had reports of excellent service and equally i've had a couple of complaints. Finding parts for a Minor is some countries is abviously going to be a challenge for most breakdown companies so the knowledge that you have cover for repatriation is a major plus

And a big box of spare parts in the boot...... :) Why do you use AA Jag? Your classic insurance will (surely??) have Roadside and Recovery included - at NO EXTRA COST ! Including Europe wide - at least - RH do!!

Hi BMC,
Habit I guess. I've been a member of the AA for years.
I'm with FJ at present (I'll have to re-read my policy docs), then we'll see what price they quote when it comes time to renew.....
Best wishes,
Mike.

F J Insurance is inclusive of breakdown cover uk/Europe so why pay for a separate breakdown cover, just paying out more money when times are tight. F J use Axia Assist which have independent garages up and down the UK and across Europe signed up to give them breakdown cover.

Carrying some spares sound wise.
And Axis Assist would appear to be well known at least.
Including repatriation to home country is certainly a boost-I need to check this out.
Thanks guys all comments helpful.

Be aware that the breakdown cover with a classic car policy often does not cover any more than 10 miles (or to nearest garage if further). So if you want to have recovery home - check that its covered, don't just assume...
