heater improvement

I have a Minor 1000 saloon 1961 1098cc. It was restored by Manchester Millenium in 2010. They fitted a Smiths heater, later type, which was operating as a recirculatory heater. Following advice in a post by a member( which I now cannot find) I have made the following alterations which have greatly improved the heat given off. I drilled a 90mm hole in the bulkhead with a Chinese holecutter ( £9 ebay) . I then bought a length of neoprene air ducting, I think it was 7 or 8 metres which I cut to size , that was 80mm. ( £30 ) . Next came a rainwater collector box, cut in half and attached to the top left hand corner of the rad using to horn bolts to fix (£16). I was unable to get the official flexible pipe, these seem as rare as hens teeth! Heater output is much better and I dont need to put the noisy fan on all the time! Also the fan is running quieter. When in the OFF position , very little heat gets in to the cab which bodes well for the summer. Not a cheap job and i am sure it could be done a lot more economically but it certainly works! The metal braid on the trunk looks a bit too close to the big electrical terminals. Otherwise - good job! An 88 degree thermostat will help too.......
