Can anyone help me - 1968 mm when the ignition is switched on "only the ignition warning light shows" not the water and oil lt - is this a fault ? have no issues with water or oil as far as l know - but not sure what to check for or better still in which order !
Also as a less important issue - have painted door tops - but been offered some s/h stainless one s - not sure if they would enhance the looks or whether they are correct for the model of my car - trying to keep it mainly standard (hence no eye lids folks - promise )

It will be the oil light, chances are the bulb has gone but check the wire to the pressure switch on the side of the engine behind the dizzy.
Painted door tops will be right for your car, stainless ones will fit if they are from a car with the same number of doors as yours.

Will check wire tomorrow - it s just somebody seemed to imply that perhaps some models did nt have them ?

Door tops from a Traveller - mine are a little naff - chap giving me them but thinks they will fit straight on ? was thinking perhaps buy the whole car - engine-g/box-diff good body/chassis rotten plus all other bits at £200

On one of my minors the oil pressure light stopped working (with ignition on). It turned out to be the oil pressure switch itself was faulty.

It's unlikely to be the bulb - test by touching the wire to the block - which should bring the oil light on...... There is NO 'water' light!

Thanks to you all for your advice - will look tomorrow and poss look for pictures of cars with the stainless door tops - to see if they look better ?

The chassis and floor on the traveller gone far too far even if l had the knowledge and storage - afraid this one will have to go to the yard in the sky - sorry

Stainless door tops were fitted to all 4 doors (afaik) and travellers. 2 doors and Convertables all had painted door tops.

Traveller door tops will bolt straight in to 2 door/convertable doors

The stainless quarterlights are well worth having as they don't rust out like the painted ones. You can always paint them if you don't like shiny.

If you have the space take the whole traveller. You can always sell on a few bits you don't need.

There is, in addition to the engine oil pressure warning light, a 'blocked oil filter' warning light on earlier models, but for some reason, they phased this out in about 1969 - certainly, my 1970 Traveller never had the oil filter sensor fitted, just a wire left dangling down!
