Are there any people/companies that anyone knows of any would recommend that can repair a 12 volt smiths electric car clock? Or anywhere you can buy the 12 volt transformers from?

If the plan is to run the clock 'not in a car' (hence need for a 'transformer') then Maplins will sort you out - but you will also need a rectifier to go with the tranny - or indeed they will more simply supply you with a 12 v DC power supply.

I may be that I am mistaken for I thought the item with 12 volts on it, wrapped in a green plastic protective coat, was some sort of transformer, so first of all I need to find what it is called for that is what I require. The clock is to go in the car to try and rectify a large mass of holes that have massacred the dash.

Transformers only work with AC power - not present in a Minor.... We need some pictures..... The IMPORTANT extra dials are Oil Pressure, Water Temperature and Amps... Do you have more than 3 holes to fill? I find the little clock on my wrist is perfectly satisfactory for telling me the time !

There are about 5 or 6 they are all about the size of two pence piece and they are clumped together in places in groups of two or three. Will try and get pictures at some point (might take a while, University coursework). But here is a similar clock that will do for now.

It is the red/orange item in the photo that I need.

It's just the coil that energises the motion. There will be a make/break contact attached to some form of escapement. 2p sized holes?? Good grief.......

It is a nightmare, but the picture on page 125 (if my memory serves me right) in the book: Morris Minor: the official photo album by Jon Pressnell shows an early 1000 with a clock and cigarette lighter and these should remove/use up most of the holes.
