Morris Minor Owners Club

As the sad moment has arrived when we must part with our favourite car, we would just like to thank the club and members for their help during our brief but wonderful Morris ownership. This was my fourth and I thought we'd be together for good, but circumstances beyond our control have pushed Moriarty onto the market. We sincerely hope it goes to a good home - well, frankly, it isn't going anywhere else but.

We'd especially like to thank the Barnsley Branch for extending such a warm welcome. We really don't know what we're going to do next, but we wish all Morris owners all teh best for the future.

We know we weren't major club members but we also know that you'd appreciate what a wrench this is. I've repaired my own vehicles all my life (partly due to interminable brokeness) and I still know my way round. That said the Morris has lead me a few dances with spanners. The latest was me forgetting I'd out 20 grade oil in and wondering why starting was sluggish. Two alternators, two batteries and a solenoid later it dawned on me. Someone had said crank it on the handle first on cold starts…

what's worse is the double whammy, cos my old bike has to go too - kick starting is not good for me, so I can't even use an old tiddler. Thank goodness for electric start - I feel slightly fraudulent but I have a modern Triumph Bonneville. It's not a patch on the 60s Tiger (it's heavy, doesn't sound as good but it at least speaks English bike) but at least I get to ride without spannering or jumping on the starter until I'm too knackered to ride….

A young lad came and bought some parts (Morris) yesterday. It heartened us to know that the young Morris generation seem to have the values we sometimes think are gone forever
