Mini chain tensioner

I have managed to get a mini timing chain tensioner, cover and backplate.
Is it posible just to change the backplate on my 1098 engine to the backplate from the mini engine to cator for the tensioner instead of drilling holes in the original back plate as mentioned in other posts.
Also can i use the front pulley and front pulley bolt instead of the minor ones with the dogs?

Thanks
Ben

You can...but you won't have anywhere to fit the engine mountings! Keep the Minor frontplate... It's just the one small hole to be drilled - and even that, not all the way through - it's just to make a location for the head of the rivet. Someone came up with a method of doing the job without drilling a hole - you'll need to use the search facility to find it now - it was a year or two ago, I think. If the Mini pulley is a vibration damper, then YES - use it! But keep the Minor starter dog - so you can use the handle !

I think this is the topic http://www.mmoc.org.uk/viewtopic.php?f= ... et#p299716
I did similar but with a rivet from behind instead of the peening.
