1955 Series II boot badge

Post by bjm38 »

Hi all,

Please can someone tell me if this boot badge is correct for a 1955 Series II:[frame]Image[/frame]
Could I find an appropriate reflector?

Thanks

Bernard

Thanks, Boomlander. I might have to try to knit something to approximate the original....hmmmm. :-?

ESM sell a reflector but it might need trimming to fit: http://morrisminorspares.co.uk/shop/pro ... ce4451c426

Thanks for the pointers - sounds like these reflectors just need some fettling to fit.

Is the BMW "mini" door card reflector the correct size already?

On my 53 series 2 the chrome part looks the same and as far as I can see the red part in the middle is correct as it has been fixed to the chrome part by applying heat to the 3 plastic legs that protrude through the badge back to deform them ,but I would not call it a reflector as it does not have the angled faces of a reflector mine is just a red smooth faced disc

Excellent, guys - there's a BMW dealership just 5 minutes down the road from here. Just need to wait for Mr Postie to bring the badge from Bull Motif.

Thanks

If you are not happy with the item you buy and would be happy to have a plain red disc please let me know and I will laser cut one for you if you supply the diameter you require ,FOC of course as it does not cost me anything

It is a legal requirement to have a light reflector/s on the rear of any car used on British roads. If you do not have any reflectors, other than the boot badge, then this cannot be a plain non-reflective bit of card or plastic.
My series MM has additional rubber mounted reflectors, on the rear wings, that were mounted by a previous owner, as the boot motif reflector has stopped reflecting.

I agree I have 2 Lucas reflectors mounted on the rear wings just above the rear lights , but as my first post stated the original piece of plastic in the rear boot badge is not a reflector as it does not have the angled rear face to it

dalgrae, thanks for the offer, but I think I'm safer getting a "proper" reflector ordered.

Hi Bernard,

Dont know if this topic is of interest to you http://www.mmoc.org.uk/viewtopic.php?f= ... &hilit=LED but the chap converted his Series II badge to accept a LED light to use as a high level brake light.

as the chap that has done it.. my convertible had later lights (with the reflectors built in) so i was not replacing a reflector with a light i was just adding an additional high level brake light.
