traveller valuation idea please

hi,
not that i want to sell my traveller but today someone has shown a very keen interest in it
but everything is for sale at the right price

1963 almond green been told its a very early 63 due to the wipers and gold speedo clock std dash
speedo shows 25,000 it has a about 7 months mot
runs well but the oil pressure is getting low.. rubble from the engine at higher revs and from cold start up
i do have a replacement short engine .. new shells pump chain etc
alternator conversion
the body work looks to be in good condition wings are fibreglass but i do have some good steel replacments
the wood has have a couple of repairs ( filler ) and a few wet soft areas but overall seems average
i do have a new exhaust, couple of spare wheels and rear doors and a towbar that go with it
interior is ok ... small hole ( fag burn.. not me ) in the drivers seat

so my question is ... what do you ALL think its worth please

If the wood is on the turn and needing word soon, it sounds like £2750 - £3250. Two almond greens have been pulled out of barns last week and put on ebay. They were both low ownership with good wood and very little rust, they were sold for about £3000 (although they did need an MOT). Shame it's not Black I would have been interested. Without photos I could be completely wrong.

I would think £1200 mainly because of the wood engine and will need paint to the wings

the has the correct colour wings on it already ( fibreglass ) but the car comes with a good set on s/hand steel wings
the wood isnt completely rotten just needs attention
the engine runs and drives great apart from the said rumble ...
but the car does come with a replacement engine for 'when' its needed

I don't think that is far out, as it looks presentable, and a lot of the major parts needed are to be included with it. As previously mentioned, wood replacement, if necessary, would be the costly job.

Hi,
Something you may want to consider before parting with her is 'what's it worth to me'.....................
For better or worse classic cars are on the up price wise and may even slip out of the reach of many with 'other considerations' to put first before long. Also, as has been stated, it's not just the purchase price but restoration costs that have to be factored in, when buying.
Personally I don't want to part with Abby, not by choice, I've put allot of time and effort, not to mention shed blood, to get her this far, so her value (or what I would ask for her) would be far greater than a buyer would want to pay.
And even if they were prepared to pay my price, I would then have to replace her with an unknown quantity and start again, which being parts prices have gone up and non-reproduced items will now be even harder to find, would mean it could cost me at least twice as much to get where I am now. Not to mention the time.....
Which leaves you considering whether its worth it....
And this is before you factor in whether what you might get for her would simply end up being frittered away on everyday 'necessities' .....................
Which leaves you without a Moggie Traveller and looking whistfully on in years to come, uttering the immortal words 'I had one of those'........................
So no, in my view, not everything has a price.....................

I'm still looking for my Traveller or Tourer (£2800) and this is a very tempting car, its been well looked after and being the rarer deluxe also makes it desirable. However, if I got this everytime I saw a black one I would think "yer they look great in that colour, and drive off in my green deluxe a little more gutted each time!".
Therefore, for that reason and to agree with jagnut, I am going to hold out for a black one and keep it along time knowing it's what I always wanted. If Chris decides to sell, this will make a fantastic buy for someone that likes Almond Green.

Having said all that, I'll look at it in a week and still be tempted.!

You say is a delux ... I take it it's the inteior your tackling about ?

I've seen others with a chrome middle dash with glove box lids
I thought these would of been the higher spec cars

I have been told the gold speedo is an early type
Also the wipers going the wrong way
Is this correct ?

It's a 1963 car with 'clap hands' windscreen wipers (a hang over from the days of split windscreens) and a duo-tone interior.
No pull start though and no wire spoked steering wheel, it looks to have the later type of heater but no 'elephants trunk' air ducting through the engine bay.
However this car may have lost things like the spoked steering wheel along the way, so I'm thinking this may be a 'dual personality' car and it may be worth you contacting the register for such cars on this site.
