My 1953 Series 2 has the paint code J which is Dark Grey, what colour actually is this? Is it Birch Grey or Clarendon Grey?

Thanks for this information. Though I still can not find which grey a J in the chassis number refers to.

I have not got any pictures yet but I will take some tomorrow, though I think the colour may be Clarendon Grey after looking at the two pictures in this post:

The car in the pictures above, as long as its not just primer :D , looks more like birch grey

Its too light to be Clarendon,well its a lot lighter than mine.

My '52 seriesmm has the code J & it is dark grey which relates to Clarendon Grey

I'm sure if you tried some T cut or similar it will be Clarendon and look like the grey in Tyson's pic. You can see the blueyness in the bonnet on your pic, its very faded and oxidised.

Thanks for this advice, I was starting to think Claredon grey being as there is a blueyness to the colour.
