If you update the post with a photo, then we might be able to help - it's a bit difficult to answer your question when we don't know what it looks like, or where it is

A '58 Traveller would not have been fitted with washers as standard so whatever you have fitted could be correct for the period.

My '56 Traveller has the square glass bottle and a square metal frame carrier on the N/S bulkhead. It looks like this one available from Moss Europe

I bought an original spare (which contains that awful impellor motor that doesn't really work) at a Beaulieu Autojumble last year for £60.00. The Moss price is out of orbit, but I used the link to show the picture.

Thankyou everyone, yes the bottle carrier shown on the Moss site is the same as the one on my traveller, though there isn't a bottle with it,in fact when I got the car it had a blue antifreeze type plastic bottle in the carrier and I ditched that.I think I will buy one from e bay which is a new bottle and a new stainless steel carrier which will look pretty smart.
Does anyone need a square carrier for their glass bottle? Thanks again,Roger

I bought one at a local show many years ago. The bottle was stood in the corner of the garage floor and shattered for no apparent reason. I also have a spare square bottle carrier!!!
