Can anyone recommend a supplier for a wiring loom for a '71 Austin Minor PickUp? Should I go for the PVC or the braided loom? I know Autosparks have a good reputation; are there any other reputable companies out there. Cheers

If you want to be able to identify the colours in a few years then use PVC

Having, of late, become something of a student of wiring looms, I would certainly suggest a company such as AutoSparks (although others do exist) as they will allow you to specify what loom you want. Options include having the outer loom braided so that it looks original, the exact spec for your vehicle and year and the option to add some additional functions too such as hazard warning lights, wiring for kenlowe fan, accessory socket, twin filament headlamps, radio etc. OK you will pay a bit more than an off the shelf loom but hopefully it will be worth the expense.

Just make your own loom - it's not difficult!

Autosparks are good looms. I've fitted a few to various classics and not had any major problems.

Always best to lay it out in the house first with a wiring diagram and label each connector so you know where it goes. Its a good head start when it comes to fitting it in the car.

Making your own loom is a lot of unnecessary work and hassle to end up with something that won't be as good as an off the shelf loom. If you want a genuine looking loom, I doubt you can weave your own braided sleeving! I used to make chassis looms for a living, trust me, off the shelf is the best way
