EVEN EASY START WONT START _ HELP

Put a new engine in that has run but now wont. All electrics OK - big fat spark to the plug and the timing is correct. Tappets adjusted and moving freely. Engine turns smartly. Carb been cleaned and new fuel put in (fuel sucked into to the piston chamber) BUT wont **#*#* start. Even a last resort of a blast of Easy Start wont get it going - any ideas before I start to cry?

If there is a good spark to all cylinders, and (good) fuel is reaching the cylinders (plugs wet?) then assuming there is good compression it can only be that they are coming together at the wrong time.
If you have checked ignition timing, best check that you are not timing it on number 4 instead of 1. Also make sure plug leads are correct 1342 anti-clock.
Lastly have a look through the rocker box cap to make sure the valve rockers are moving.
If all that is correct then can you give us a bit of info about what has been done since the engine was running.
Apologies if telling you what you already know.

The 'timing' is obviously NOT right! Move the plug leads round one plug at a time (remembering 1342 anticlockwise) until it does start.

The easy-start must have blown a few holes in the pistons....
Horrible stuff.

Been off the forum as my Dad has just passed 100 years old and I've been his wing man. The solution was Brassoing the damper pot.

Congrats to the Centenarian!! Crikey!!!
You said at the beginning the carb had been cleaned....it is always important that the piston rises easily - and falls back with a nice clunk! Well done getting it going.
