FUEL pump keeps clicking

hi just got traveler back from paint shop and it past mot first time so have been driveing about very prowd of all my hard work over the last 12 months.well the problem is i think is the fuel pump keep,s clicking i don,t know but would this be a sign of a blockage as it is like a clock tick then speed,s up as the car speeds up.can any body poin,t me in the right direction please.best rgds nick.

Isn't that what they're meant to do? My memory of them is a bit hazy (mechanical pumps on my cars), but I reckon it's probably normal. Someone will correct me if I'm wrong - or I'll tell you when I've put the 1098 in.

If you get the odd click then that's normal pumping. If it starts clicking rapidly then there is an air lock or you have run out of fuel. It should stop ticking when the ignition is on and the engine is not running.

hi cam yep thats right on but what,s the best way to bleed the system.

If the connections are tight then it 'bleeds' itself as it's a suction pump so after a few minutes of running it should be fine. You only tend to get air in if you have leaky joints or when the fuel in the bulkhead pipe vapourises due to high engine bay temperatures on a very hot day........
