saw this yesterday , a friend who runs a tr3 and a tr4 had an alternator in his hallway ready to go on one of the tr,s but it looks like a dynamo, it is an alternator disguised in a dynamo casing comes with a dummy regulator box to replace dynamo regulator and needs no rewiring / alteration to existing cables , looks and fits like a dynamo but with the capacity of an alternator and no messing about . i am going to find out supplier ,cost etc for those that are interested and will update the post as soon as i have more info

update my mate paid £340 at a show special offer so the £150 e bay looks a good deal compared ,still think they look easy to fit for spacing , alignment of belts etc

My 'stock' of alternators were £1 each.. Refused to pay more at autojumbles... Don't see many for sale there now, and certainly not at £1. If you want to be purist - stick with a dynamo. It's perfectly satisfactory for a 'purist' car with standard electrical gear.

Sure would have to be a purist! Think alternator looks neat and also gives a bit more room to get at thos darn fan belt adjusting nuts.
