The previous owner wanted to pass it on to his son, so he changed the wheels to make it more appealing to him as he was only 17. The son still wasnt interested hence the sale. I have been told because its a daily use car, and that the wheels are new, not to bother changing them (unless of course I wanted 100% autheticity)
So I apologise to those in advance about the wheel modification. More important things needed doing on the car first like a new advance retard and alternator.

Southport.............................I remember it well from my youth! My Great Aunt Agnes used to live at 17, Sefton Street, not too far from Hollands sweetie factory who made the "Penny Arrow Bars" ( did my teeth few favours!) and a cracking music shop quite close by too where I could buy the odd record and ogle the guitars (I haven't really changed much......still love to look at guitars!). And my Granny used to live at 71 Part Street in a house that was far to big for her in her widowhood so she rented out a couple of rooms, one to mousey little Miss Burke and the other to a rather large lady called Mrs. Higginbottom. I remember being dragged round Southport Flower Show every August in baking heat and all the glorious flowers on Rotten Row ( my first introduction to towering Hollyhocks). Harry Wheatcroft the rose grower with his huge handlebar moustache! All I wanted was an ice cream! What I'd give to go there now! May even do it now I'm retired. Could take my new acquisition!
Lord Street and the Wayfarers' Arcade which had a cracking toyshop with all the latest Dinky's and Corgis, and those great cowboys and Indians with the swappable bits called, surprise surprise, Swappits ( or was it Swoppits!?).
I always remember walking along Lord Street with my dad and we had to stop to allow a huge shocking pink American car turn into a street that ran off Lord Street towards the seafront (promenade?). It was a massive Cadillac or something similar and I remember my dad being more than just a bit disgusted to see that it was being used to carry goods!! The driver got out of this huge, exotic beast, opened the boot and started to carry large trays of freshly cut chips into a chipshop!! Talk about shattering illusions!!
Had my first ever Chinese meal in a new Chinese restaurant on Lord Street too. Must have been in the early '60's. Special Fried Rice I think it was! The start of an eating adventure that has lasted more than 50 years and still goes strong. Must try to lose a couple of stone this year though!!
I also remember a plague of flying ants...never seen anything like it. It was like a plague of mini-locusts. And also a night when there was a huge tide and the entire beach at high tide mark was covered in hundreds of thousands of tons of little pink bivalve seashelled beasties like mini-cockles. There was a major effort to clear them away with big lorries and diggers but they couldn't get it done quickly enough and the creatures inside the shells started to decay and the town stank for days

Well! I see that my input and reminiscing has been a real conversation stopper!

On the contrary, I read your post - just couldn't join in with the reminiscing as I've only ever been driven through Southport once about 30 years ago.

Very interesting how Southport has changed over the years, I have only been living here for 7 years, from Manchester originally.
Yes Southport still has a lot of independent music shops and guitar shops are very popular down a little place called Wesley Street. Don't know if you have heard of it?
Wayfarers arcade is still there and vibrant with the usual quirky stuff. Did you ever visit the lawnmower museum in Shakespeare street?
We still get an infestation of flying ants every late summer. Did you ever go to the Flower Show.
If you are ever in Southport let me know and I will show you the car and buy you a coffee

Lovely looking car. Do those wheels make it go any faster?

The Minilite type wheels are absolutely ideal for ANY BMC car....the Works Comp cars used little else. I wish I had a set!

Apparently you can get them now in the original cream colour

I've always associated the minilite pattern with minis but seeing them on the traveller, they look good, I'm thinking they may suit a van, as an alternative to slots.

Cream?? Gen Minilites were always 'silver' as I remember....

mine (on the MGB)are silver and look smart (no there's an old fashion word )

Smart wheels?? Do they find Wi-fi as you drive? just shows how the meaning of words can change over the years...
