ok so to keep it short, ive got a 55 mog with 1098 running gear, i want it to look standard ish on the inside, right now i know you can put the long gearstick on a 948 gearbox by taking off the remote selector, but my question is can i do the same to the 1098 gearbox, i have the gearstick and original gearbox cover so thats not a problem.

You 'can' - but it's not straightforward. Some machining is required. Been covered a few times in the past - do a search!
