Noisy gearbox driveshaft bearing

Post by Bantam »

Hi All,
I have what I think is a noisy gearbox PRIMARY DRIVE SHAFT BEARING, which stops being noisy after pressing the clutch pedal down. My minor has a 1098 engine & gearbox fitted.
It does not seem too bad at present but can anyone please advise me on the best course of action needed.

Very many thanks

Top priority - check the oil level in the gearbox - maybe even treat it to an oil change and inspect what comes out with the old oil. Engine oil - not EP oil......

Been there last year, eventually mine started to jump out of top gear, unless you have stripped a box before, which you need to ,to do the bearing,I believe all the working come out from the rear, and know how to put it back together. I would do as I did and find another box to swap over. Then take the old one to bits and have a play with the internals, good for practice. :D
